(Welcome to/Peace Burundi)
I'm an expat-brat from the UK, currently studying International Affairs in Geneva and desperate to go back to Africa. Fortunately the good people at the Advocacy Project and Survivor Corps (on which more below) have given me an opportunity to do just that! I will be working in Burundi, possibly the least-studied country in Africa after Central African Republic, helping Survivor Corps with their work with female ex-combatants who have been victims of gender based violence. And if that leaves me any time to spare, I'll be doing my best to get out and about in the country, learning as much as I can en route, as well as pursuing my long-held ambition to get DRC passport stamps. Courtesy of Huy, here’s another picture of Harriet Potter, the Guinea Pig Who Lived, which is pretty much the cutest thing ever. Harriet is doing well and has a nice new box - she was just in the cup to stop her running away while he cleaned the box out. Apparently though, she now really likes the cup, and (on its side) it is now a permanent feature of the box. She likes to back into it and hide - we think this may be a sign of ongoing trauma.
